OSOGBO – Adegboyega Oyetola, the Osun State governor, has admonished corps members posted to the state to abstain from all forms of social vices to protect their future.
Oyetola gave the charge at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp in Ede during a visit to the 1,800 corps members posted to the state.
The governor, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prince Wole Oyebamiji, said such vices as drug abuse, advanced fee fraud, kidnapping, robbery among others, were capable of killing aspirations and goals of the young graduates.
He said the celebration of corps members was worthy going by the significant role in their places of primary assignments.
He remarked that the youths constitute most productive segment of the population and society, adding that NYSC had not done enough in moulding graduates’ aspirations to fit into the nation’s aspirations and blueprints, which should focus on total emancipation and economic expansion.
According to him, “I want you to complement the gesture of NYSC and the government by being good ambassadors as well as advocates of peaceful co-existence and corporate existence of our nation.
“I also enjoin you to comport yourselves in the noblest way worthy of your calling into the national service; remember that you are the greatest asset of our nation.
“As future leaders and key determinants of the peace and stability of our nation, I want you to channel your energy, vigour and drive towards the achievements of lofty ideals and aspirations and abstain from vices.
