Through you, Nigeria will develop up to the point where people from all over the world will come here to have a better life that is the future we intend to build for this country.“Nigerian youths will no longer go through the Sahara Desert in search of greener pastures in Europe.”To this end, the minister tasked the students who were going to represent Nigeria in the International Young Science Olympia in Durham, Qatar, in December 2019 to be good ambassadors of Nigeria and also emerge as the overall best during the competition.According to him, “It is only the best that is good enough for Nigeria.” He urged them to strive to win the gold medal for the country.Onu expressed optimism that through the Young Junior Olympiad, other young people would be inspired to focus more on science, technology and innovation.Earlier, the Director of Science and Technology Promotion in the Ministry, Ekanem Udoh, expressed utmost confidence in the junior Olympiad to win the International competition due to the high level of support and preparations given to them.He further noted that only six students who would emerge out of 35 students will be finally picked to represent Nigeria in the competition.“We are hoping that by the training given to these students, they will emerge as the best and return back home as the topmost competitors,” he said.
